CAPE Civic Scholar Program

The CAPE Civics Scholar Program is an extraordinary opportunity for incoming students who show interest in politics and policy. This program recruits San Joaquin Valley’s best and brightest students and provides them with optimal opportunities to network, build career skills, and build up resumes. To recruit Civic Scholars CAPE connects with AP Teachers all around the valley, seeking their top students with excellent academic performance. Once the Civic Scholars have been recruited they are invited to the Scholars Showcase where they receive a tour of Political Science labs and a demonstration of a research project. Along with the tour, prospective students get the opportunity to network with current staff members and Civic Scholars to learn more about the program.
Cape Civic Scholars have access to:
- A guaranteed internship after their first 2 semesters
- Meet and Greets with established guest speakers
- First in line consideration for the POLI Lab, Research Assistantships, and external internships
- Receive priority enrollment in their third year for POLI 109: Legislative Stimulation
